The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert to relevant departments regarding potential flooding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir, as well as the expected storms and rain in southern Sindh. The warning is in response to the predicted impact of monsoon rains from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal in various parts of the country.
According to the National Emergency Operation Center of NDMA, monsoon rains have started to enter the upper regions of Pakistan. These rains are expected to affect different areas within the next 24 hours and are likely to continue until July 27th.
NDMA’s alert covers multiple regions across Pakistan:
Southern Sindh, including coastal areas such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Sukkur, Larkana Division, Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta, Sajawal, and Islamkot, is expected to experience wind storms and rain starting tonight.
“Heavy rain is expected in areas such as Rohi and Rahim Yar Khan in South Punjab.”
Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: These areas should also be prepared for heavy rainfall.
