Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has met the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva.
IMF MD Kristalina Georgieva met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the occasion of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation between the government and the IMF to promote economic stability and growth.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his determination to implement institutional reforms and promote the development of the private sector while appreciating the IMF’s support for approving a $7 billion loan to Pakistan.
Shahbaz Sharif also appreciated the technical assistance and capacity-building programs of the IMF.
While supporting Pakistan’s efforts on behalf of his institution, the IMF Managing Director emphasized the importance of maintaining macroeconomic stability and promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
During the meeting, they discussed the urgent need to mobilize climate change-friendly financing.
On which The prime Minister agreed to raise this important issue with the Finance Minister during the annual meetings held in October with the senior management of the IMF.
