Maritime Minister chairs meeting to discuss Customs, Shipping Agents’ issues

The other day, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Sheikh chaired a meeting at the PNSC building to address trade-related issues encountered by trade bodies such as Pakistan Customs, Shipping Agents, Terminal Operators Companies, and Karachi Port Trust. This meeting was held in response to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s directives aiming to resolve the concerns of stakeholders.

Those in attendance included Syed Syedain Raza Zaidi, Chairman of KPT, Alia Shahid, DG Ports and Shipping, representatives of Karachi Customs Agents Association led by Mehmood ul Hassan, Maqbool Malik, Chairman of All Pakistan Custom Agent Association, Asif Sakhi, Vice President FPCCI, Khurram Ijaz, former Vice President FPCCI, as well as Omer Shafique, Collector Customs Enforcement KPT, and representatives of Terminal Operating Companies such as KICT, KGTL & SAPT.

The Minister for Maritime Affairs stressed the importance of ease of doing business and emphasized the need for coordination among all stakeholders to resolve issues and facilitate the reduction of time taken for cargo clearance.
