Major terror bid foiled in Balochistan on Independence Day

Quetta: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has revealed that security forces foiled a major terrorist plot aimed at targeting children during Independence Day celebrations. Shockingly, a university lecturer from BUITEMS was found to be involved as a facilitator in the plan. During a press conference in Quetta, the CM stated that terrorists intended to attack children celebrating Independence Day, but timely action by security forces averted a national tragedy. He recalled that in a previous suicide attack at the railway station, 32 people had lost their lives, and investigations later confirmed that the arrested lecturer had escorted the bomber to the site. Bugti further disclosed that around 2,000 to 2,500 government employees had already been investigated, stressing that those involved in anti-state activities cannot be pardoned. He accused terrorist groups of blackmailing women to use them in terror acts and spreading propaganda under the guise of “missing persons.” “Pakistan is being targeted through an organized conspiracy, and it’s time we end this confusion. A handful of people cannot hold 250 million citizens hostage. The state stands with the oppressed, not with terrorists,” he asserted. During the press briefing, the arrested lecturer, Dr. Usman Qazi, confessed that he had been supplying target details and weapons through Telegram. He admitted his betrayal of the country, and investigations revealed that he was a leader of the Majeed Brigade while pursuing his PhD in Pakistan Studies on a government scholarship. According to the CM, both the BLA and the Majeed Brigade brainwash innocent youth to carry out suicide bombings. The government has now decided to adopt a new strategy against terrorism, ensuring the supremacy of law and bringing such misguided elements before the courts. Meanwhile, security agencies have confirmed that Dr. Qazi’s terror network was preparing deadly explosions across Quetta and other cities on August 14. He had allegedly trained 32 suicide bombers and prepared four explosive-laden vehicles. Officials stated that the timely crackdown saved the nation from a catastrophe, once again exposing how the enemies of Pakistan exploit education and innocence to advance their destructive agenda. Citizens have been urged to report suspicious elements to help secure peace and stability in Balochistan.
