Major development surfaces in the Samiya Hijab case

The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has extended the physical remand of TikToker Samiya Hijab’s alleged abductor and accused, Hassan Zahid, for another three days.

Duty Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Azhar Nadeem heard the case. During the hearing, the defense counsel presented details of the accused’s financial transactions with the complainant to the court.

The defense argued that despite a two-day remand order, the accused was produced after five days. The police clarified that the previous order contained a typographical error regarding the remand period, which was immediately corrected.

The defense further submitted that Hassan Zahid and Samiya Hijab were engaged, presenting their engagement photos and a video statement of the complainant’s parents in court.

The prosecution told the court that Rs. 45,000 had already been recovered from the accused, but a car, weapon, and the arrest of the co-accused were still pending; therefore, an additional eight-day remand was sought.

The defense maintained that after obtaining bail in one case, Hassan Zahid was deliberately arrested in another. It was also argued that at the time of the alleged incident, the accused was present at Jinnah Super Market. The defense added that when Zahid demanded repayment of his money from Samiya Hijab, fake receipts were given in return.

An FIR against Hassan Zahid is registered at Shalimar Police Station.
