Lahore Ranks First Among The Most Polluted Cities In The World

Due to the air quality of Lahore being extremely harmful to health, Lahore is again number one on the list of the most polluted cities in the world.

The Punjab government issued an alert that the excessive burning of crop residues in India could cause an abnormal increase in Lahore’s air quality index.

Due to the bad air quality, the government has instructed the citizens of Lahore to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed.

On the other hand, the Meteorological Department says there is no chance of rain in any part of the country during the next 24 hours and most areas of Punjab are likely to be affected by smog.

According to the senior minister of Punjab, Maryam Aurangzeb, the city’s air quality index reached 1000 on Saturday morning due to polluted air entering Lahore from India. The intensity of smog will remain for the next 48 hours.

Burning of crop residues in Indian regions has increased smog.

Maryam Aurangzeb said that NASA has released an aerial photograph of the smog spreading in Lahore.

Along with the wind, smoke also entered the Pakistani areas, which worsened the situation.

Citizens should not come out of their homes after a sharp rise in smog.

People with respiratory, chest, and heart diseases should be careful, and especially elderly people should not go in the open air.
