Lahore Beats NYC and London in Global Safety Rankings
Lahore: Lahore has been ranked among the safest cities in the world in the 2025 Crime and Safety Index released by Numbeo, a reputable agency that compiles crime statistics globally.
According to the report, Lahore has been ranked 37th in the crime index worldwide and 63rd among the safest cities, an extraordinary development.
The report says that Lahore has now become a safer city than major cities like New York, London, Washington, Berlin, Istanbul, and Paris.
Numbeo’s report attributes the significant reduction in the crime rate in Lahore to effective police strategies and data-based policymaking.
According to official statistics, reported crimes decreased from 67,585 between April 2023 and April 2024 to 34,091 between April 2024 and April 2025.
The report highlighted significant improvements in the following areas:
No.1. 64% reduction in robberies and murders,
No.2. 55% reduction in general robberies
No.3. 33% reduction in motorcycle thefts, 42% reduction in bandits
No.4. 33% and 39% reduction in car and other vehicle thefts, respectively
More than 400 police personnel were taken into custody under the internal accountability process, while 4 station house officers were also imprisoned in their police stations after being found guilty of corruption.
According to DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, this success is the result of technology, data-based policing, merit-based appointments, and strict action against habitual criminals.
He said that the police identified crime hotspots and deployed additional personnel and modern equipment in these areas.
Faisal Kamran described teamwork as the real secret to success and said, “Our next goal is to make Lahore one of the safest cities in the world.”
