Kohat Funeral Turns Deadly: 3 Killed, 15 Injured
A tragic incident of firing between two groups took place during a funeral in Ghanda Chechana, Gambat area of Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in which three people, including two women, were killed and more than 15 people were injured.
According to the police, there was a personal enmity between the two groups, and during the funeral, a sudden verbal altercation turned into a brawl.
Indiscriminate firing started at the spot within a few moments, turning the funeral parlor into a battlefield.
Rescue 1122 officials said that the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where the condition of some is said to be critical.
Two women are also among the deceased, while the body of a man will be handed over to his heirs after the formalities.
Immediately after the firing, the police reached the spot and started collecting evidence by surrounding the area.
Police say initial investigations point to personal enmity, but the real motives will emerge after the investigation.
Following the incident, an atmosphere of fear and panic prevailed in the area, while the police have deployed additional personnel to maintain law and order.
