Kashmiris Observe Self-Determination Day
Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and around the world are observing the Right to Self-Determination Day today with a renewed resolve to continue their struggle until they achieve their universally recognized inalienable right.
The call to observe the Right to Self-Determination Day has been made by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference. Every year, January 5 is observed as the Right to Self-Determination Day for Occupied Kashmir.
On January 5, 1949, the United Nations passed a resolution guaranteeing a free and fair plebiscite in Occupied Kashmir.
The purpose of observing this day every year is to remind the international community that it cannot ignore its responsibility towards Kashmir.
