Karam: Demolition Of Bunkers Begins Today, Teams Formed

Demolition of the fronts will start in Kurram district from today, the district administration has formed different teams.

Kurram Deputy Commissioner Ashfaq Khan says that according to the Kohat Peace Agreement, the fronts will be demolished in the district by February 1 and weapons will be collected.

Earlier, Kurram Deputy Commissioner said that in the initial stages, bunkers of one village on each of both sides will be demolished, and officials of law enforcement agencies will be present with the teams.

He said that the relief consignment will be sent after security clearance, Article 144 is still in force in Kurram, and sit-ins are going on at three different places in Kurram.

It should be remembered that orders were issued to demolish the bunkers in Kurram yesterday under the decision and agreement of the Provincial Apex Committee.

According to media reports, Deputy Commissioner Kurram issued an order to the relevant agencies, which stated that bunkers should be dismantled in Lower Kurram villages Kharkali and Balash Khel, and work will start tomorrow after the bunkers are dismantled.

The Deputy Commissioner directed Exxon C&W Upper and Lower Kurram to be present on the spot and take the necessary tools and workers to dismantle the fronts.

The notification said that initially, bunkers would be dismantled from one village on each of the two sides and a 14-member government team would go to both villages to dismantle the bunkers.

It should be noted that the decision to dismantle the bunkers in Kurram was taken in the Apex Committee meeting and this clause was also included in the agreement between the parties.
