Karachi Board Postpones the Matric and Ninth Grade Exams

The matric and ninth exams were originally set to take place on May 21; however, the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has decided to postpone them until May 27. An impending heatwave in Sindh prompted the decision to be made. Following the issuance of a heatwave alert by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority and the National Disaster Management Authority, the decision was taken.

Due to a heatwave alert issued by the Met Office and the National Disaster Management Authority, the Karachi Board of Secondary Education has postponed the annual exams for grades 9 and 10.

“With reference to Notification No. SO (Boards-I)/U&B/Annual-Exam/2024, all parties involved are hereby notified that the SSC Part I & II 1st Annual Examination-2024, which was originally scheduled to take place from May 21 to 27, 2024, has been postponed. This decision was made in response to the heat wave alert that was issued by NDMA & PDMA. Mr. Muhammad Ali Malkani, Controlling Authority Sindh Boards of Education / Minister, Universities & Board Department, Government of Sindh, has issued this order.

The board announced that the exams that were postponed will now take place on May 28, 2024, in accordance with the original schedule. Later on, the updated schedule for the papers that were postponed will be made public.

In accordance with the orders of Muhammad Ali Malkani, the Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards, BSEK decided to postpone exams. The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi decided to postpone exams scheduled for May 22 due to the heatwave, and this decision was followed by the announcement to delay the matric exams.

On the advice of Sindh Minister Malkani, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah approved the postponement of the intermediate exams on Sunday. According to a spokesman for the chief minister, CM Shah gave the Universities and Boards Department instructions to change the date of the intermediate exams.
