Justice (retd) supports the position of investigating the allegations of Shaukat, the letter of 6 judges of Islamabad High Court

Six judges of the Islamabad High Court have written a letter to the Supreme Judicial Council, demanding their support for investigating Justice Retired Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui’s dismissal. They believe that if the independence of the judiciary is being interfered with, it will be undermined.

The judges claim that Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui was dismissed on October 11, 2018, for reporting intelligence agency interference. They argue that his dismissal was wrong and that he should be reinstated. The judges also seek guidance from the Supreme Judicial Council on how to report such interference by intelligence agencies.

They believe that interference in judicial affairs and intimidation of judges by intelligence officials reduces the independence of the judiciary, and such actions should not be repeated. The judges suggest a judicial convention be held to address this issue, and mechanisms should be created to protect the independence of the judiciary. Finally, they want to determine if the state’s executive branch-directed policy still exists, which is implemented by intelligence officials who report to the executive branch
