Rising water levels in the River Chenab have triggered a high flood, creating a dangerous situation for nearby settlements. To prevent large-scale destruction, the district administration decided to breach the embankment near Chand Bharwana.
Deputy Commissioner Ali Akbar Bhindar signed the approval order, after which explosives were used at three points on the railway track in Rago Ana to create the breach.
Floodwaters have begun to inundate areas including Thatta Mala, Koriana, Dado Ana, Pakay Wala, Darbar Sheikh Ali, and Mauza Kal Korai. Local residents are being shifted to safer places as rescue operations continue.
