Israeli Forces Release Former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad
Israeli forces have released former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, a senior leader of Jamaat-e-Islami. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the development, stating that Senator Mushtaq is now safe at the Pakistani Embassy in Amman, Jordan.
Dar said that the embassy is in full coordination with Mushtaq Ahmad and will assist him with his return to Pakistan according to his preference and convenience.
The Foreign Office also confirmed that the release was made possible through the valuable cooperation of the brotherly government of Jordan. The spokesperson expressed gratitude to Jordan for its “exemplary support and generosity,” adding that Pakistan remains in close contact with its international partners to ensure the safe and early return of its citizens detained by Israeli occupation forces.
It should be noted that Senator Mushtaq Ahmad was part of the Global Freedom Flotilla heading toward Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid. Israeli forces intercepted the convoy and detained Mushtaq Ahmad along with several other participants.
