Islamabad Loses 25,000 Trees, Eco-Crisis Worsens
The Institute of Architects Pakistan (IAP) has written a letter to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressing serious concern over the felling of 25,000 trees under ongoing development projects in Islamabad.
The IAP demanded that the government include expert opinion in urban planning and consider alternative solutions such as growing local trees and effective traffic management.
In the letter, the IAP warned of the deteriorating ecological balance, identifying threats to Islamabad’s green identity.
The organization offered the government that the services of experts for sustainable urban planning could be provided free of charge to save the city from environmental disaster.
The IAP demanded that immediate notice be taken of the wanton felling of trees and strict and effective measures be taken to secure Islamabad’s green future.
Citizens have also appealed to the authorities to make serious efforts to save Islamabad from the dangers of pollution and climate change.
