Internet and mobile network services have been suspended in several cities of Pakistan including Islamabad and Rawalpindi ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf protest.
The service has been suspended in several areas of the twin cities ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s call for protest at Islamabad’s D Chowk.
Sources revealed that internet service is also suspended in Karachi due to which social media apps are facing difficulties.
Earlier today, the Punjab government deployed Rangers personnel in four cities of the province after implementing Section 144 to ban political gatherings, protests, and rallies.
Section 144 was imposed in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, and Sargodha. Apart from this, Rangers have also been called to maintain law and order.
In Lahore, the Punjab government has specifically called for the services of three companies of Rangers for October 5.
Section 144 will be in force in Rawalpindi, Attock, and Sargodha for three days from Friday, October 4 (today) to Sunday, October 6.
The decision to impose restrictions and deploy rangers was taken based on the recommendations of the district administration.
In response to the call of protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Islamabad Police has formed seven teams to arrest the protestors.
According to sources, the special police team will consist of 15 to 17 police personnel and officers.
Sources claimed that these teams will work under the leadership of Superintendents of Police (SPs), with each team headed by an officer of the rank of sub-inspector.
