Karachi: The International Maritime Sustainability Exhibition and Conference 2024 has concluded.
The International Maritime Sustainability Exhibition and Conference 2024 under the Ministry of Maritime Affairs concluded in Karachi on Saturday.
After the closing ceremony, the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization, Arsenio Dominguez, while giving a press briefing, said that there is immense potential in the maritime industry in Pakistan.
He said that we have discussed various plans and strategies during this conference.
I am confident that Pakistan will continue to develop its ship recycling and fisheries sectors, with a focus on environmental sustainability.
Arsenio emphasized IMO’s commitment to providing Pakistan with technical facilities and assistance to enhance its maritime capabilities.
Referring to port visits during his stay, he highlighted the importance of the country’s ports and highlighted IMO’s ongoing programs on global maritime affairs.
Addressing the press conference, Commander Pakistan Fleet, Pakistan Navy, Admiral Faisal Abbasi said that Pakistan’s maritime boundaries have been free from piracy throughout history.
He appreciated the role of the Pakistan Navy in combating piracy in the Gulf of Aden.
Admiral Abbasi remarked that the Pakistan Navy is continuing to take active steps to promote and create awareness about the importance of the maritime economy. The main theme of this year’s conference is ‘Blue Economy’.
On this occasion, he announced that the next Maritime Conference will be held in November 2025.

The International Maritime Sustainability Exhibition and Conference (IMSEC) 2024 provided a platform for Pakistani and global maritime industry stakeholders to discuss sustainability strategies and the future of the maritime sector.
