Intermediate Exams Halted: Teachers vs Board Showdown
Quetta: The annual intermediate exams in Balochistan, which were scheduled from April 22 to May 20, have been unexpectedly postponed for three weeks.
The announcement issued by the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE) did not give any reason for the postponement of the exams.
However, the decision has been approved by the Chairman of the Board, Muhammad Ishaq. The new date sheet will be issued in a few days.
On the other hand, there has been a strong reaction in the educational circles of Balochistan against the appointment of the Chairman of the Board.
Balochistan Professors and Lecturers Association, All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA), Government Teachers Association, Senior Educational Staff Association, Watan Teachers Association, and Junior Teachers Association, among other organizations, have announced a boycott of the intermediate examinations, calling the appointment of the chairman a violation of the Balochistan Board Act 2019.
The teachers’ organizations have not only boycotted the FA and FSC examinations but have also decided to stop the marking of matriculation papers.
They say the protest will continue until the notification of the chairman’s appointment is cancelled.
