Icy Hailstorm Shatters Islamabad! Cars, Homes, Even Mosques Damaged
The weather suddenly took a turn in Islamabad and Rawalpindi in the afternoon, and a heavy hailstorm and torrential rain began with strong winds.
The intensity of the heat during the day was at its peak, but as soon as thick clouds covered, icy hailstones started falling from the sky, which surprised and worried the citizens.
Due to a hailstorm in different areas of the city, the windows of cars were shattered, and the windows of houses were broken.
While the windows of the famous religious place Faisal Mosque were also damaged. Trees were uprooted by sharp gusts in the Tarnol area, which severely affected the flow of traffic.
During the rain, many children were playing in parks, who ran towards safe shelters screaming due to the sudden hailstorm.
Power supply was suspended in some areas of the city, however, restoration work is underway by WAPDA officials.
Meanwhile, heavy rain and hail were also reported in Landi Kotal and Kaghan Valley of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A vehicle was swept away by a flash flood in Khyber district, while traffic flow was affected at some places.
Although the hail and stormy weather caused damage, it resulted in a break in the heat, and the weather became pleasant,
which brought some relief to the citizens. However, experts say that the effects of climate change are becoming apparent rapidly, which requires urgent attention.
