Air travelers from Pakistan will not be able to travel in and out of Pakistan without paying taxes imposed by the government.
Customers booking air tickets from Pakistan or foreign countries after July 1, 2024 w, ill also have to pay additional tax before traveling.
Airlines will charge passengers according to the new tax rate at the time of ticket booking. Passengers purchasing tickets without additional tax will have to pay the tax at the airport before departure.
In Pakistan, passengers traveling from one city to another in the economy class of an airplane are now traveling by air by paying a tax of 12,500 rupees instead of 5,000. This decision has been implemented from July 1. Passengers traveling outside Pakistan are buying tickets by paying taxes according to their region.
First-class and business category passengers from Pakistan to other Gulf countries including Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates will now pay tax of Rs 150,000 instead of Rs 75,000.
Similarly, passengers traveling to America and Canada will have to pay a tax of Rs.350,000. Earlier, passengers had to pay two and a half lakh rupees.
Passengers traveling to Europe will have to pay a tax of 210,000 rupees. Earlier, these passengers had to pay a tax of Rs. Those traveling to China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand will now pay Rs 210,000 tax instead of Rs 150,000.
Travel agents providing air travel facilities are calling this decision harmful to the country. According to them, it will leave Pakistan as a regional hub. Passengers traveling outside Pakistan will book direct flights from Pakistan to nearby countries, which will have lower fares and taxes.
