How much does petrol and diesel smuggling cost the national exchequer every month?

According to recent reports, it has been discovered that the national treasury is losing a whopping 10 billion rupees per month due to the smuggling of petrol and diesel. The Oil Companies Advisory Committee and the Petroleum Dealers Association have jointly conveyed this concerning information to the Secretary of Petroleum in a letter.

They have stated that a staggering 3.56 million dollars worth of oil products are being smuggled every month, which is causing a huge economic loss and posing a threat to the oil industry. Petroleum dealers have claimed that the legal sale of oil products has been reduced by 50% due to smuggling. The PPDA has also revealed that an astonishing 4 crore liters of petrol and diesel are being smuggled into the country every month.
