Hamas And Israel Reach Ceasefire Agreement

An agreement has been reached between Hamas and Israel to end the Gaza war, which the Prime Minister of Qatar formally announced.

At a press conference in Doha, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said it is a matter of great joy that the parties to the conflict have agreed to the agreement through joint mediation by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States.

Key points of the Qatari Prime Minister’s statement;

  2. Qatar, Egypt,t and the US have succeeded in reaching a ceasefire agreement.
  3. Work is underway with Israel and Hamas to implement the agreement.
  4. The first phase involves delivering humanitarian aid to the entire Gaza Strip.
  5. In the first phase, 33 Israeli prisoners have been released, and in return, Israel will release a certain number of prisoners.
  6. It is hoped that these will be the last days of the war.
  7. The people of Gaza will not be left alone.

The Qatari prime minister thanked US President-elect Donald Trump’s new Middle East envoy, Steve Koff, and the Egyptian minister for their efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.

He said that under the agreement, prisoners would be exchanged for a ceasefire and delivered to Gaza.

He said that the agreement has been reached through negotiations between both sides, Israel and Hamas, and the Israeli government will take steps to implement it.

The Qatari prime minister said the agreement between Hamas and Israel would come into effect on Sunday, January 19.

He said the first phase of the ceasefire would last 42 days and would see the withdrawal of Israeli forces from urban areas of Gaza to the border.

The exchange of prisoners and bodies, the evacuation of the wounded and sick, and large-scale humanitarian assistance throughout the Gaza Strip would also be provided.

He said that assistance would be provided to return and rehabilitate displaced people.

The Qatari prime minister said that in the first phase, Hamas would release 33 Israeli prisoners, including women, soldiers and the elderly,

In exchange, a certain number of Palestinians held by Israel would also be released.

He said that the details of the second and third phases would be determined by the full implementation of the first phase and that both sides must fully implement all three phases gradually and avoid further bloodshed and war.

The Qatari Prime Minister said that Qatar will work with Egypt and the United States to ensure the implementation of the agreement so that both sides fully comply with the agreement.

He said that Qatar will continue all efforts for the return of displaced families in Gaza, rehabilitation and the people of Gaza.

According to the report, there will be an initial 6-week ceasefire under the agreement and it will include the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and the release of Israelis held by Hamas in exchange for the release of prisoners by Israel.

Earlier, media reports had reported that the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas had approved the agreement with Israel brokered by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt for a ceasefire in Gaza.

The Israeli website Times of Israel reported that Palestinian and Israeli officials said that Hamas had approved the cessation of the Gaza war and the release of Israeli prisoners, but Hamas had not submitted the approval in writing.

Israeli media reports said Israeli officials said the two sides had agreed to the deal and that a formal announcement would be made soon.

Earlier, international news agencies had also reported, citing Palestinian sources, that Hamas had verbally accepted the deal, but had not been informed in writing about the ceasefire.

A statement issued by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that they had not received any response from Hamas.
