Gwadar International Airport To Become ‘Operational’ On August 14

The New Gwadar International Airport is set to start operating from August 14, as reported by ARY News, citing sources from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The soft launch of the airport will be conducted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The airport, located 26 km north-east of the existing Gwadar airport, covers an area of 3,000 acres and cost Rs54.98 billion to build.

Similar to the new Islamabad Airport, it is the second greenfield airport in Pakistan and will be able to handle a variety of aircraft for both domestic and international routes. The airport is close to completion, with only four percent of the operational portion remaining unfinished.

Additional developmental work related to the airport is projected to be finished by December 2025. The New Gwadar International Airport is expected to improve regional connectivity and economic growth, making it a significant infrastructure project for Pakistan’s growing aviation sector.
