Last night, an urgent meeting of the federal cabinet was called in which the draft of the (26th) constitutional amendment was considered.
The meeting was held in the Prime Minister’s Chamber in the Parliament House in which all the federal ministers were present. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Attorney General Mansoor Usman, Ishaq Dar, Azam Nazir Tarar, and Mohsin Naqvi were also present.
The Minister of Law and Justice gave a detailed briefing on the 26th constitutional amendment in the meeting. In the meeting, members of the cabinet including Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Muslim League-Q, Stability Pakistan Party were taken into confidence regarding the 26th constitutional amendment.
The cabinet meeting will be held again at 2:30 p.m. today. After the meeting, Federal Law Minister Nazir Tarar said that the cabinet meeting will be held again at 2:30 p.m. today.
After some changes, the approval of the amendment bill will be taken from the cabinet today. Azam Nazir Tarar said that the draft was finalized in the parliamentary committee.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman was also made a part of the draft, the draft which was approved by the committee was placed before the cabinet, the cabinet has been fully briefed.
This work has been going on regularly for the last 4 weeks. On the other hand, the meeting of the Senate has been adjourned till 3 pm today, while the meeting of the National Assembly will be held at 6 pm.
