Government Announces Public Holiday on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal

The government of Pakistan has declared a public holiday across the country on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal (6th September) to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ. According to Dawn News, the Cabinet Division issued the official notification following approval from Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

The notification states that Saturday, 6th September, will be a holiday nationwide in observance of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ’s birth. Across Pakistan and in many countries around the world, the day is celebrated with deep religious reverence and respect.

The day traditionally begins in the federal capital, Islamabad, with 31 gun salutes, and 21 gun salutes in all provincial capitals. After Fajr prayer, special prayers are offered in mosques for the country’s prosperity and the unity of the Muslim Ummah.

The life and teachings of the Prophet ﷺ serve as a guiding light for all humanity. To commemorate the occasion, special conferences, gatherings, and Milad ceremonies are organized. Buildings, streets, highways, mosques, and homes are also decorated with lights.
