Google Maps’ Secret Feature Lets You Travel Back in Time
Millions of people around the world use Google Maps every day, but did you know that this navigation service also has a feature through which you can see old photos of any place?
Google Maps’ Street View feature can show you the changes in different places since 2007.
Whether you want to see an old building or want to know what a road or area looked like before, this feature is perfect for you.
How to view it on my desktop?
Open Google Maps and click on any location where Street View is available.
Click on the Street View panel at the bottom.
If old photos of that location are available, the “See More Dates” option will appear, from where you can select any year and peek into the past.
How to use on mobile?
Hold your finger on any location, and if Street View is available, images will appear in the lower left corner.
Go to “Photos” and select Street View & 360.
If older images are available, you’ll see a “See More Dates” option that you can click to go back in time. If you want to go even further back, use Google Earth’s Historical Imagery feature, which allows you to view satellite images of parts of the world dating back to the 1970s.This feature is especially interesting for those who are interested in delving into history and seeing how the world has changed over time!
