Gilgit (Faheem) WWF-Pakistan celebrated World Water Week at ‘Independent Living Center for Persons with Disability, Gilgit’. It was for the first time that differently abled children participated in such an activity in Gilgit, where the children displayed their art work highlighting the importance of water conservation. The children were trained by a special teacher on painting and drawing in a week long workshop.
Minister for Social Welfare, Women Dev and Human Rights, Dilshad Bano and IGP Gilgit-Baltistan, Afzal Mahmood Butt attended the World Water Week Ceremony at the ‘Independent Living Center for Persons with Disability’. Both dignitaries appreciated the effort of WWF-Pakistan for engaging differently abled children in a noble cause for water conservation and assured to support the environment friendly activities in the region. The minister in her speech said, ‘WWF-Pakistan not only included them in the Nature Club and Water Week but also empowered them to believe in their ability to contribute to nature conservation ‘.
Afzal Mahmood Butt, Inspector General of Police GB emphaised to proetect the natural resources for future generatons and appreciated the children who took part in the painting competition.
