Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited requested a 54% hike in gas prices.
According to an English newspaper report, the gass prices are revised twice a year, which is determined by OGRA, and the government fixes the consumer prices for different categories based on this.
OGRA has announced a hearing on November 8 on SSGC’s request for an increase of Rs 669 per unit or 53.5 percent.
The request of SNGPL to increase 3.66 percent or Rs 64 16 paise per mmbtu will be held on November 5.
SNGPL submitted a petition on October 15, followed by an amended petition on October 18 for a review of estimates based on its revenue requirement for FY 2025.
The company has estimated a shortfall of Rs 20.85 billion in revenue, which includes Rs 48.9 million from the LPG Air Mix project.
As a result, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited has sought an increase in the average fixed price of Rs 64.16 per MMBtu.
It should be noted that Sui Southern Gas Company Limited has estimated a shortfall of Rs 140 billion in revenue during the financial year 2025.
The Karachi-based company has sought an increase in the average fixed price of Rs 669.07 per mmbtu, which will take its current price to Rs 1,920 per mmbtu from Rs 1,251.
