Bannu: Four members of a local peace committee were killed when terrorists opened fire on them in the Hoid area of Bannu, police said.
According to police officials, the peace committee members were returning from a jirga held at Gulbaddin Landai Dak when armed terrorists, who were lying in wait, launched indiscriminate firing on their vehicle. As a result, four people were killed on the spot.
Police confirmed that a father and his son were among those who lost their lives in the attack. Following the incident, law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.
The bodies of the deceased were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for legal formalities, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
