Fixed Charges On Electricity Bills In Pakistan From July

It is proposed to impose fixed charges up to Rs.1000 on domestic electricity consumers.

Officials National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) said that the proposed fixed charges are included in the average fixed electricity basic tariff of Rs 5.72, earlier fixed charges were not imposed in the tariff of domestic consumers.

According to Nepra, it is proposed to impose a fixed charge of Rs 200 on monthly consumption of 301 to 400 units, Rs 400 on monthly consumption of 401 to 500 units, Rs 600 on monthly consumption of 501 to 600 units, and Rs 800 on monthly consumption of 601 to 700 units.

According to Nepra officials, it is proposed to impose a fixed charge of Rs 1,000 on consumption of more than 700 units per month.

Nepra has proposed fixed charges from July 1, 2024, the decision will be taken by the federal government.

Nepra officials said that the final decision on the basic tariff will be made after the request of the federal government, all fixed charges are part of the basic tariff, it is not separate from the tariff.
