Federal Government Finalizes Plan To Operationalize Gwadar Port
Islamabad: The federal government has prepared a final plan to make Gwadar Port fully operational, under which it has been decided to coordinate with relevant countries including China.
According to government sources, it has been decided to organize an international conference on Gwadar Port in Islamabad,
in which efforts will be made to get Central Asian states and other relevant countries on board at the diplomatic level.
The government has also decided to construct modern residential buildings in a designated area for foreign residents in Gwadar, while a strategy is being prepared to invite the Baloch community in Oman to invest in Gwadar.
Furthermore, the government has also decided to fully activate the Gwadar Free Zone on the lines of Singapore and the United Arab Emirates and establish a modern fishing processing unit in Gwadar to develop the local fishing industry after the elimination of Chinese fishing trawlers.
A 14-member committee of the federal cabinet has expressed concern over the delays and problems related to Gwadar Port and has started urgent work. The committee will submit its report next month, which will give recommendations on practical steps.
