The federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has officially approved the ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).
According to sources, the Punjab government’s recommendation to impose the ban was presented during the meeting. The cabinet approved the decision under Article 17 of the Constitution, authorizing the Ministry of Interior to carry out further legal and administrative procedures.
During the session, the Ministry of Interior briefed the cabinet in detail about TLP’s activities and the reasons behind the ban. The members were also informed about the implementation of key points of the previous agreement with the group.
The meeting also reviewed the country’s current political and economic situation. In addition, the Defense Minister briefed the cabinet on the post-ceasefire situation with Afghanistan following the recent truce.
The cabinet further endorsed the recent decisions of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) and the Cabinet Committee on Legislation.
According to officials, the government has implemented the key clauses of the agreement, while Federal Minister Ali Muhammad Khan stated that the government appreciates TLP’s cooperation in maintaining stability.
