False Taliban Claims Can’t Change Facts: Khawaja Asif

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has strongly rejected the recent “false and misleading” statements made by the Afghan Taliban spokesperson, saying such fabrications cannot change the facts. He reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue taking decisive actions against terrorism.

In a statement on his X account, the Defence Minister said the Pakistani nation, along with its political and military leadership, stands united and fully aligned on all matters concerning national security.

Khawaja Asif stated that the Afghan Taliban’s “non-representative regime” is deeply divided internally, where women, children, and minorities face ongoing repression, and the rights to education, expression, and representation are being denied.

He added that despite four years in power, the Taliban have failed to fulfill their promises to the international community. Instead, they are using rhetoric and propaganda to hide governance failures and internal conflicts, while acting as proxies for external elements.

The Defence Minister emphasized that Pakistan’s Afghan policy is guided by national interest, regional peace, and stability. He asserted that Pakistan will continue decisive measures to protect its citizens and eliminate cross-border terrorism. “False statements cannot alter the truth — trust must be built through concrete actions,” he concluded.
