A powerful suicide blast near the Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters in eastern Quetta left 10 people dead and 33 injured. The explosion was heard across Model Town and surrounding sensitive areas, shattering windows of nearby homes and buildings.
According to security sources, the attack was carried out by the Indian-backed proxy group Fitna Al-Hindustan. The suicide bomber, dressed in an FC uniform, was accompanied by five other terrorists.
Security forces responded swiftly, killing the suicide attacker along with five terrorists on the spot. Later operations confirmed that a total of eight terrorists were neutralized, while two FC personnel sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.
Balochistan Health Minister Bakhth Muhammad Kakar confirmed the casualties, stating that five victims died instantly while five others succumbed to injuries during treatment. An emergency was declared in Civil Hospital Quetta, BMC Hospital, and Trauma Center, with all consultants, doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and paramedics present on duty.
According to officials, the terrorists attempted to storm the FC Headquarters using a Suzuki vehicle packed with explosives, followed by another white van carrying militants. The timely action of FC personnel foiled their plan.
Security authorities added that the attackers also targeted innocent civilians heading to the city for daily work, resulting in further casualties.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm and report any suspicious activity to prevent future attacks.
