Senior journalist and analyst Sohail Warraich was awarded the title of Professor of Practice at a renowned event held by the University of Management and Technology (UMT) School of Media and Communication Studies.
A distinguished group of people graced the ceremony, including Justice (Retd) Nasira Iqbal, Sohail Warraich, Muhammad Niaz, Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Hafeez ullah Niazi, Ata-ul-Haq Qasmi, Salim Bukhari, senior anchorperson Ajmal Jami, Salman Ghani, Mubasher Lucman, Salman Abid, and Fahad Shahbaz, as well as a host of journalists, analysts, and experts from a range of fields.
There were also UMT academics, staff, and media studies students in attendance, along with UMT Rector Dr. Asif Raza, Chief Advisor Lieutenant General (R) Javed Hassan, Dean of the School of Media and Communication Studies Dr. Anjum Zia, and Ahmed Sohail Nasrullah.
The dean of UMT’s School of Media and Communication Studies, Dr. Anjum Zia, greeted everyone with warmth and emphasized the importance of the occasion. She underlined that the UMT School of Media is proud to have been the first to bestow the title of Professor of Practice, which is reserved for people with extraordinary training in both academia and practice. Dr. Zia expressed her happiness to present Sohail Warraich, a renowned author, commentator, and journalist, with this accolade, signifying his official affiliation with the School of Media at UMT.
Dr. Asif Raza, the rector of UMT, greeted the guests and gave a summary of the university’s efforts to create an atmosphere that equips students to serve the country with enthusiasm and commitment. He praised the choice to name Sohail Warraich a Professor of Practice, seeing it as a constructive move in the direction of forging closer links between higher education and business.
Dr. Raza stated that UMT’s media students will greatly benefit from Warraich’s mentoring and advice in order to get ready for lucrative jobs in the field.
Well-known reporters and commentators, such as Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami and Ata-ul-Haq Qasmi, praised UMT’s initiative and the acknowledgment of Sohail Warraich’s contributions. They said that Warraich is a great contribution to Pakistan’s media scene and that this relationship is an honor for both UMT and him.
At the end of the ceremony, veteran journalist and commentator Sohail Warraich received the official title of Professor of Practice from UMT Rector Dr. Asif Raza and Professor Anjum Zia.
