Ending Sectarianism Is Urgent; Scholars Must Play A Positive Role: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that ending sectarianism is an urgent need and urged religious scholars to play a positive role. He highlighted that even today, some scholars continue to speak in favor of sectarian divisions, which must be stopped.

He made these remarks while addressing the National Ulama Convention, attended by Chief of Defence Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan achieved a significant victory in the righteous cause due to the prayers of the scholars and the nation, and the armed forces bravely delivered a humiliating defeat to India. He emphasized that economic development and terrorism cannot coexist, and eliminating terrorism is crucial for the country’s progress.

He pointed out that terrorists coming from Afghanistan are targeting innocent people in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Prime Minister Sharif stressed that national progress is only possible through hard work and unity, not through magic or shortcuts.

Finally, he said that while enemies are astonished and friendly countries are pleased with Pakistan’s success, combating poisonous propaganda is the responsibility of every citizen.
