Electricity Prices Slashed: Big Relief for Consumers

Islamabad: The federal government has submitted a formal application to NEPRA to reduce electricity prices across the country.

The application proposes a reduction in electricity prices by Rs 1.71 per unit, which will be implemented from April to June 2025.

According to the government, this reduction will be possible through an increase in tariff subsidy, and will be applied to all companies, including K-Electric. NEPRA will hear the matter on April 4.

According to sources, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has also allowed Pakistan to reduce electricity prices by Rs 1 per unit, which will benefit all consumers. This relief will be provided through revenue generated from a levy on captive power plants.
