Drug Smugglers ‘Rules’ Sialkot Destroying Youth’s Future

The significant increase in drug sales in Sialkot has raised serious concerns among citizens, as the younger population is increasingly falling victim to addiction. Areas such as Nakamura, Hajipura, and Shahabpura have become hotspots for drug dealing, leading to frustration among locals due to the perceived lack of effective police action.

Residents have expressed their anger and urged the IG Punjab to take immediate control of the situation. One resident stated, “Drugs are spreading rapidly in our community, and students are paying the price.

The police must step up, or IG Punjab should step down,” reflecting the widespread discontent. Many citizens have highlighted that the availability of drugs on the streets has become common knowledge, yet law enforcement appears unable to curb the menace.
Additionally, shopkeepers in the area have reported that drug dealers operate openly and unchecked, while the police have been largely ineffective. Sialkot DPO Umar Farooq mentioned that police operations have intensified, resulting in the arrest of 754 suspects over the past three months.

He added that 625 different drugs, including hashish, ice, and heroin, have been seized. However, despite these efforts, the public remains dissatisfied with the progress.
