Dow University of Health Sciences will Conduct MDCAT

The Sindh government has tasked the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) with administering the medical and dental colleges admissions test (MDCAT) following the announcement by the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro (LUMHS) that it would not be able to do so.

Following the statement by the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro (LUMHS) that it would not be able to administer the medical and dental colleges admissions test (MDCAT), the Sindh government assigned the Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) with this duty.

The exam is being administered by DUHS for the third year in a row in order to determine admission to Sindh’s private and public medical and dental schools. The Sindh Health Secretary, Rehan Baloch, made this announcement in writing.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Ikramuddin Ujjan of LUMHS announced that he was unable to oversee the MDCAT this year since his son will be sitting for the test. To ensure openness and objectivity, he suggested having a different university administer the exam.

Rumours have earlier circulated that either People’s Medical University Nawabshah or Larkana Medical University would be the ones giving the exam. Still, the government decided to give DUHS the task.

Remember when Jinnah Sindh Medical University’s first exam was postponed due to allegations of paper leaks? DUHS administered the MDCAT last year as well.

For the third year running, DUHS is conducting the exam in order to grant admission to private and public medical and dentistry schools in Sindh. Rehan Baloch, the Sindh Health Secretary, has formally announced this decision.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Ikramuddin Ujjan of LUMHS stated that because his son will be taking the exam, he was unable to supervise the MDCAT this year. He recommended that the test be administered by a different university to guarantee transparency and impartiality.

There had previously been rumours that the exam might be administered by Larkana Medical University or People’s Medical University Nawabshah. Nevertheless, the authorities chose to assign the duty to DUHS.

Recall that DUHS administered the MDCAT last year as well after Jinnah Sindh Medical University’s first exam was postponed owing to claims of paper leaks.
