In the past 24 hours, over 12 people have lost their lives due to monsoon rains and floods in Pakistan. In Sindh, five individuals passed away in various rain-related accidents, with many others sustaining injuries.
Several villages were submerged after the Murad Wah canal breached in Kandhkot. The Kirti Dam also ruptured in Khairpur, cutting off access to 200 villages. In addition, a 100-foot-wide crack has appeared in the Begari Canal.
The roads in Tandwala Yar, Matiari, Hala, Bhat Shah, and Saeedabad were flooded. Two people, including a woman, died in Jamshoro due to a roof collapse.
In Nowshehro Feroze, a girl lost her life, and five individuals were injured in three separate incidents of roof collapse. In the village of Shah Dost in Jacobabad, two people were trapped under debris following a roof collapse.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four people, including two children, drowned in rain drains in the Karak district.
Three bodies have been recovered so far. Additionally, a grandfather and granddaughter drowned while crossing the Babil Khel storm drain, and the body of 26-year-old Shahzad, who drowned in the storm drain in Luaghalgada, was recovered.
In Dera Ismail Khan, the flow of traffic on Waziristan Road was suspended due to flooding in the rain drain at Tankgarh Baloch. Nearby populations of Garha Baloch were instructed to move to safe places. Heavy rains in the northeastern districts of Balochistan have led to a high-level flood situation.
The embankments of Raza Machhi Bachauband have weakened. According to the Inhar department, 68,000 cusecs of rainwater are passing through Nadi River. The water level in the Lahri River has reached 62,000 cusecs, and the flood level in the Tali River is 13,400 cusecs. The PDMA has provided relief materials to the administration for the flood victims. In Jhal Magsi, the water level in the Mola River has also started to rise.
