Boost Industrial Production Through Reforms: PM

 Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired an important review meeting on national tariff policy, customs duties, imports, and trade-related reforms. During the meeting, members of the sub-working group, comprising leading business representatives, briefed the Prime Minister on issues related to customs and tax collection and presented their recommendations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the proposals and directed the concerned ministries to ensure maximum facilitation for industries, businesses, and investors. He said the newly introduced National Tariff Policy aims to support industrial growth and align exports and imports with Pakistan’s broader economic goals.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Climate Change Dr. Musadik Malik, Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Leghari, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik, Minister of State for Finance Azhar Bilal Kiani, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar, Chairman SIFC, and representatives from the industrial and business community.

The Prime Minister emphasized that sector-specific challenges must be identified to boost industrial and trade performance. He further instructed that strict monitoring of customs duty collection should be ensured at border points on bilateral and transit trade with other countries.
