Big increase in Electricity Price

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to increase the fuel adjustment for February. According to the CPPA’s request, in February, 6.87 billion units of electricity were sold, and electricity was generated using a variety of sources.

Nuclear fuel accounted for 23.29% of electricity generation, while local coal and imported coal accounted for 13.94% and 1.89% respectively. Domestic gas and imported LNG accounted for 11.04% and 20.33% of electricity generation respectively. If NEPRA approves the application, consumers will have to bear the additional cost of Rs 5 per unit, resulting in an additional burden of over Rs 40 billion. However, this increase will not be applied to all electricity consumers
