Big blow for government employees
The annual increase in pension for Punjab government employees has been abolished. A notification has also been issued regarding this important decision.
According to the notification, the Punjab Finance Department has abolished the annual increase in three types of pension. The ban on pension increases will start today for government employees retiring.
In this regard, Finance Secretary Mujahid Sherdil has sent a letter to all administrative secretaries and heads.
The letter states that the pension increase issued under paragraph one of the Finance Department’s letter issued in 2015, while the increase issued under paragraph two of the letter issued in 2011 has also been abolished.
Similarly, the pension increase issued under paragraph one of the Finance Department’s letter issued in 2022 has been abolished.
The Finance Secretary has directed in the letter that all departments and institutions should take documented steps to stop the pension increase under the new letter dated December 2, 2024.
