Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina Wajid ‘Resigns’, Flees Country On Army Helicopter

Dhaka: Hasina Wajid, the country’s longest-serving prime minister, has finally resigned as a result of the civil disobedience movement that began in Bangladesh after nationwide student protests against the quota system.

According to the international news organization, students across the country announced a march towards Dhaka today and thousands of students reached outside Hasina Wajid’s house.

Due to growing public pressure and protests, Sheikh Hasina Wajid resigned and left for India in a special plane along with her sister Sheikh Rehana. He was not even allowed to record his speech before resigning.

Indian media has claimed that Sheikh Hasina Wajid has reached New Delhi along with her sister from where she will go to Finland.

Hasina Wajid, Bangladesh’s longest-serving prime minister, was reportedly given 45 minutes to resign by the military.

Sheikh Hasina Wajid also tried to record the speech in the name of the nation before moving to a safe place, but she was not given the opportunity.

At that time thousands of angry protestors entered the official residence of Sheikh Hasina Wajid “Ganabhaban” and did some ruckus there while there are also reports of looting.

However, Sheikh Hasina Wajid had already left for India along with her sister in a special plane.

Currently, there are hundreds of thousands of protesters on the streets.

On the other hand, the army chief of the country appealed to the people to remain calm and said that he will address the people shortly.

It should be noted that more than 300 people were killed and thousands injured in the violent protests against the quota system in jobs, while several police stations were set on fire.
