Balochistan Requests KP’s Returned Bulletproof Vehicles

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has urged Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi that if the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government refuses to accept bulletproof vehicles, they should be handed over to Balochistan to enhance counter-terrorism operations. Sarfraz Bugti stated on X (formerly Twitter) that Balochistan, like KP, is also affected by terrorism. If these vehicles are not being used there, they should be given to Balochistan to provide better protection for its personnel. Recently, KP’s newly elected Chief Minister Suhail Afridi returned bulletproof vehicles provided by the Federal Interior Ministry, calling them “substandard” and stating that they were an “insult” to the KP police. Meanwhile, Federal Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry criticized KP’s decision as “irresponsible”, emphasizing that the vehicles were provided under the Prime Minister’s directive and that the provincial government is engaging in political point-scoring. He further stated that a change in KP’s leadership would not halt counter-terrorism operations, and the new Chief Minister must understand that this is a nationwide fight against terrorism, not a political game. Mohsin Naqvi Orders Bulletproof Vehicles to Be Sent to Balochistan After Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Refusal Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that after the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government refused to accept the bulletproof vehicles provided to them, these vehicles will now be immediately sent to Balochistan to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts in the province. Mohsin Naqvi said on the social media platform X (Twitter) that the vehicles originally allocated for KP are being transferred to Balochistan. He added that the sacrifices of security forces and police in Balochistan against terrorism are commendable, and the provision of bulletproof vehicles will further enhance their operational efficiency. This statement came in response to a tweet by Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, who had stated that Balochistan is also severely affected by terrorism and requires additional security equipment for effective operations. Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that public safety is the top priority of the Balochistan government and that security measures are being further strengthened. It is worth noting that a few days earlier, the Federal Interior Minister had provided three bulletproof vehicles to the KP Police, but newly elected KP Chief Minister Suhail Afridi refused to accept them, instructing the police to return the vehicles. Suhail Afridi claimed that the federal vehicles were defective and that the provincial government would provide new vehicles and additional resources for the police on its own. However, official sources stated that while the bulletproof vehicles are older, their protective functionality remains intact, and they had been allocated by the Federal Ministry of Interior specifically for police security operations.
