Balochistan CM Eyes to Strengthened and Boost Women-Led Small Businesses (SMEs)

Federal Minister announced the formation of a joint SME Task Force with the Government of Balochistan for Coordinations

The federal and Balochistan governments have agreed to strengthen collaboration to accelerate the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), with a special focus on women entrepreneurs, youth, and agriculture-based businesses.

The understanding was made during a meeting between Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, and Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti at the Ministry of Industries and Production.

Haroon Akhtar Khan said the federal government, under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision, views SMEs and women-led enterprises as vital pillars of inclusive and sustainable economic growth. He stressed that coordinated efforts between the federation and provinces are essential to unlock the full potential of Pakistan’s micro, small, and medium enterprise sector.

Highlighting Balochistan’s economic potential, Haroon Akhtar Khan said the province possesses vast opportunities and a resilient workforce capable of making a significant contribution to the national economy. He announced the formation of a joint SME Task Force with the Government of Balochistan to ensure effective planning, coordination, and implementation of SME initiatives.

According to him, the task force will prioritise agriculture-based SMEs, livestock development, youth entrepreneurship, and women-led businesses, aligning provincial efforts with national SME development goals.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti reaffirmed his government’s commitment to promoting SMEs across Balochistan and enabling local entrepreneurs to compete in wider markets. He emphasized that SME growth in the province would not only uplift local communities but also strengthen the national economy.

The Chief Minister assured full cooperation with the federal government, stating that Balochistan is ready to support SME development across all sectors and encourage local business communities.

Haroon Akhtar Khan commended the provincial government’s efforts and reiterated the federal government’s resolve to work closely with Balochistan to convert policy measures into measurable economic outcomes.
