Batter Babar Azam has resigned from the captaincy of the ODI and T20 squad of Pakistan cricket team and said that leading the national team has been an honor for me, but now I want to focus on my performance.
In a post on social media website X on Tuesday, Babar Azam said, “I am sharing some news today. I have decided to resign from the captaincy of the national cricket team which was announced last month by the PCB and the team. This was done in the notification issued by the management.
Babar Azam stated, “It is an honor for me to lead the national team, but now it is time for me to step down and concentrate on my career and the game.” Captaining the team has been a great and rewarding experience.
He wrote that captaincy carries an additional burden. I want to prioritize my performance, enjoy my batting, and spend quality time with my family, which makes me happy.
Babar Azam further wrote that by leaving the post, I will get better performance going forward and pay more attention to my game.
He thanked his fans for their unwavering support and faith in him. I am proud to lead the national team now I am excited to contribute to the team as a player. Thank you so much for your love and support.
