ATM Hacking Gang Active Again
A sophisticated IT expert gang that robs citizens through ATMs has become active again in Karachi and other cities.
The incident of snatching Rs. 450,000 from a senior citizen in Karachi’s Nazimabad area has revealed the presence of this gang.
Modus operandi
According to SSP SIU Shoaib Memon, this gang cheats citizens by hacking ATMs.When a citizen uses an ATM, their card is deliberately stuck in the machine.
A member of the gang comes in under the pretext of helping the citizen and obtains the password and other financial details by calling a fake helpline.

The gang also includes women.
The search for the other accused is underway after obtaining information from the arrested accused.
The gang has committed crimes in various cities including Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi.
Operations in other cities
Two days ago, the police arrested an ATM robbery gang in Lahore’s Nawab Town area. This gang used to rob citizens withdrawing money from ATMs. Mobile phones, weapons, and stolen money have been recovered from the arrested suspects.

The SSPS IU and police authorities have warned the public and directed them to take the following precautions:

Carefully observe the surroundings while using the ATM.
Keep an eye out for suspicious persons.
Keep your information confidential:
Do not share your passwords, user IDs, or OTPs with any unrelated person.
Avoid suspicious links:
Do not click on any unknown or suspicious links.
Rely only on verified official sources for your financial security.
In case of card gets stuck in the machine:
Call the bank’s helpline immediately.
Avoid taking help from a stranger.
