Akhtar Mengal Should Stop Being Stubborn, People Are Suffering: Appeals Raheela Hameed

Quetta: Balochistan Assembly Member Raheela Hameed Durrani has said that a parliamentary delegation from the government had gone to talk to Sardar Akhtar Mengal to find a solution to the problems faced by the people due to the ongoing sit-in, but it is regrettable to say that Sardar Akhtar showed stubbornness instead of cooperation.

Talking to the media, Raheela Durrani said that “Sardar Akhtar Mengal started the conversation by asking who sent him?” We women parliamentarians had gone to him with sincere intentions to solve the problems of the people, but he refused to end the sit-in until our demands were accepted.

She added that the delegation told Sardar Akhtar Mengal that some of his demands were pending in the courts, so the government could not make a unilateral decision.

Raheela Durrani said that Akhtar Mengal neither has any merit nor does he seem serious about solving public problems.

Raheela Durrani expressed regret that the provincial capital has been cut off from other parts of the country due to the sit-in,

due to which passengers, patients, and ordinary citizens are facing severe difficulties. She appealed that in politics, there is a need for reason, awareness, and public interest, not stubbornness.

In Quetta, PML-N parliamentary members strongly criticized Sardar Akhtar Mengal while holding a press conference and termed his recent statements as “forgetfulness”. PML-N leader Saleem Khosa said that Quaid Nawaz Sharif always respected Sardar Akhtar Mengal,

even went to Nawaz Sharif’s car to get the chief ministership. She called Akhtar Mengal a “double-crosser” and “forgetful” and questioned why he raises his voice against the facilitators of terrorism but is silent on the killing of laborers.

Saleem Khosa further said that Akhtar Mengal is giving his sit-in a legal tone by taking the help of the constitution, while the government’s negotiation process is failing due to his stubbornness.

He said that the government would not accept the demands due to stubbornness, and Akhtar Mengal had tortured ordinary citizens through the sit-in.

On this occasion, Member of Assembly Rahlia Durrani said that the delegation consisting of women parliamentarians had gone only to solve the problems of the people, but Sardar Akhtar Mengal refused to talk and asked the delegation’s first question, “Who sent you?”

He said that most of Akhtar Mengal’s demands are already under hearing in the courts, but he has refused to end the sit-in. The impression was also given in the press conference that the era of hate politics is over, and the BNP will have to account for joining the Quddus Bizenjo government and its performance.
