Air Punjab Project Nears Launch, Flights Start March 2026

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed the swift activation of the Air Punjab project, marking a historic step in the province’s aviation sector. The initiative aims to provide affordable, modern, and comfortable air travel to the people of Punjab, contributing significantly to the province’s economic growth and tourism development.

During a high-level meeting in Lahore, the Chief Minister was briefed on the project’s progress, including the finalization of the initial flight route from Lahore to Islamabad. According to government sources, the first phase of Air Punjab will involve leasing six modern and comfortable aircraft, with the first domestic flight scheduled to depart from Lahore to Islamabad in March 2026, followed by plans to launch international flights.

The concept of Air Punjab was first proposed during Nawaz Sharif’s tenure, and under Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, it is now being implemented rapidly. The project is expected to reduce travel costs while boosting tourism, business activities, and employment opportunities in the province.

The Chief Minister has emphasized the recruitment of experienced personnel on a merit-based system, and the selection of state-of-the-art aircraft to ensure passengers receive the highest level of service.

Government sources report that implementation of the Air Punjab project is progressing swiftly, with the Chief Minister personally overseeing its development. The project is anticipated to become a milestone not only for Punjab but for the entire country.
